McGuire FlexGuard Termination Bar

McGuire FlexGuard Termination Bar

McGuire’s FlexGuard Termination Baris an extruded aluminum bar that’s designed for securing and sealing compression type flashing terminations per McGuire’s specifications. The bar is packaged in 1″ x 10′ lengths, 500 linear feet per package and has pre-punched holes every 6″ on center. This bar features a top edge for ease of applying FlexBond Universal Sealant for TPO and PVC installations. The bar can be easily cut to any desired length. When installing, make sure that all corners of cut bar are rounded. Install the bar using HD Fasteners, or Term-Bar Nail In Fasteners.

  • Provides a reliable method of waterproofing round pipe penetrations.
  • Offers substantial labor savings compared to field fabricating from non-reinforced flashing.
  • Ensures a more consistent appearance than field-fabricated pipe flashings.
  • Double-ribbed cutting guide allows easier, smoother, and straighter cuts.
  • Rib design helps keep the clamp in the proper position for the life of the roofing system.
  1. Substrates must be free from dust, dirt, oil, water, and other contaminants. Wall areas above termination must be waterproof.
  2. Bar must be waterproof. Install per McGuire’s Specifications and Details.
  3. Install a continuous bead of Flexbond Universal Sealant behind the top of the flashing.
  4. Anchor bar through pre-punched holes to maintain constant compression, maximum 12ʺ on center.
  5. Install the flat side of the bar toward the flashing so a reservoir is formed along the top edge for Elevate sealant.
  6. Keep each 10′ (3.1 m) length of Termination Bar separated from adjoining bars by 1⁄4ʺ (6.3 mm).
  7. Install termination bar vertically where base flashing ends.
  8. Remove any excess flashing material showing above the bottom of the sealant reservoir channel.
  9. Install Elevate AP Sealant into the reservoir channel.

  • Where field cutting is necessary, remove any burrs from bar ends.
  • Clean up shavings and debris that may result from field cutting.
  • Termination bars must be installed directly to the wall surface, not to existing sheet metal or flashings.
  • Install termination bars only on hard, smooth surfaces. Do not install on substrates where the seal is lost at mortar joints or uneven surfaces.
  • Do not install termination bars on wood or other porous surfaces.
